Our Work

We provide support, humanitarian relief and assistance to those affected by extreme poverty and war through the provision of medical care, shelter, food relief, and education.

  • Provide food packages to individuals, families and communities most at risk of hunger, starvation and malnutrition due to food insecurity. Food packages can range from a single meal to up to two-months worth of food items.

  • Repair or rebuild simple traditional homes where shelter has become unsuitable or uninhabitable.

  • Provide financial assistance to struggling families to cover the cost of short-term rent whilst addressing longer term income options to enable self sufficiency.

Food & Shelter

  • Provide the funds for acute/life threatening and chronic conditions including injuries.

  • Attend hospital/clinic appointments, where appropriate, to better support and advocate for the beneficiary.

  • Arrange logistics and travel to all appointments, consultations and / or hospital admissions.

  • Regularly visit our beneficiaries in the hospital or at their home to offer support, friendship and practical help.

  • Invest time sitting with, listening to, and sharing with our beneficiaries. To see them valued as a person.

Medical

We are committed to walking alongside, and investing in, the long term journey of each individual. We seek to provide holistic support to the individual and their family through physical, emotional and spiritual provision.

Holistic support

  • Run pop-up training workshops on a variety of health education topics including first aid and child health.

  • Provide financial support to struggling families to send their children to school/tuition.

  • Support local educational facilities providing early years education at low cost to families living in poverty.

Stories

Here are some real stories from those we have had the privilege of serving:

March 9, 2023
Zion was found by a couple who run an orphanage, barely alive, amongst a large pile of rubbish in a small rural village. It was impossible to know his exact age due to serve malnutrition and neglect. Some said he was a newborn, other claimed he was older, either way, this was a tiny, precious baby close to death.

For The One was able to partner with a local organisation on the ground, SEM (Shidno Evropejska Misija) run by dear friends of ours. Zsolt and his team of local Ukrainian and Hungarian volunteers are reaching some of the most desperate communities with food, medicines, generators, blankets, clothes and many other essential items.

I had no oil left to cook a curry for my family. I went to ask a neighbour if they could lend me a small amount which they kindly did. I was so worried about how I would repay their generosity even though things are hard for them too...

Then unexpectedly we were visited by your team and they gave us food packages. Inside I found oil, rice, onions, eggs, salt and rice noodles. Oh! Thank you for being the answer to our prayers.
